  19. While we're on the subject of displacement maps...
  20.  
  21. Has anyone had any luck controlling displacement maps with bones?  We need
  22. to create a racing flag that is waved through the air but pinned to a
  23. stick.

  25. I know that falloff is one method, but I've never been satisified with the
  26. results.  Without some sort of threshold, falloff is too gradual.  Also, we
  27. had hoped to avoid using an image displacment map since the flag changes
  28. speed and we want the ripples to reflect this.

  30. What we wanted to do was apply a world coordinates ripple displacement map
  31. that the flag could move through and put a bone on the back of the flag
  32. near the stick to keep the ripples from making the flag leave the stick.
  33.  
  34. In our preliminary tests it doesn't work.  Regardless of bone position and
  35. strength the wave still makes the flag leave the stick.
